And it was surprisingly good! I honestly think that it’s a good sounding Porsche. If someone gave me the choice of a 718 Cayman S or the previous Cayman S, It would honestly be a tough choice on sound alone.
But, if you give the 718 to Fabspeed...
I will find a way to drive one of these this year!

I don’t mind the stock 718 sound, the Boxster has never been a loud car. Fabspeed sounds good too.

I don’t think the 718 sounds bad in any way. It’s a good sounding car just like the Cayman/Boxster before it. You are right though. I’ve never seen or heard a loud Boxster; Caymans, on the other hand, GT4.

Road and Tracks recent review of the 718 Boxster makes me want a 718 so bad. Cylinder count is just a small detail about how great these cars are.

I don’t think the 718 sounds bad, but watch the first couple minutes of this video and tell me that the old one didn’t sound far better.

I don’t think many people who have ears are claiming that the 718 sounds bad . The issue is just that it doesn’t sound like a Porsche Flat 6...cuz, ya know...it’s not...

I’m not really in the market for a Porsche that sounds like a Subaru.
That said, it does sound decent for what it is, and still somewhat mechanical which is nice.

I’ll tell you that the 9A1 sounds glorious in every car it’s in. There is absolutely no dispute in that regard. However, I will say that one doesn’t sound better than the other, because they’re both completely different sound-types to me. I cannot explain what I mean, but there’s a distinct feeling each one gives me that cannot be compared between one another. They both sound great!

Well, if you’re expecting a flat-6 *insert rest of meme here* :p
I’m more happy that the 718s have motors to call their own.

It has all the aspects of the classic Porsche sound, sans two cylinders. Mechanical noises, throaty rumble, and a crescendo up to their redline. That’s brilliant. It sounds nothing like a Subaru to my ears....It sounds even better than a Subaru!!

I rewatched the Everyday Driver comparison of the Cayman GTS and the M2 again recently. The sound of that GTS... good Lord.
